Sr. Manager - Financial Systems

The purpose of this role is to provide system support to all areas of Finance, including technical and functional application support where appropriate, performs data analysis and serves as a liaison between Finance and the Information Technology (IT) organization. Experience with Costpoint, Cognos, TM1, Controller, and Blackline is desirable. Ideal candidate will have experience both leading/managing an accounting or finance team, and leading/managing systems teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands financial, accounting, planning and treasury concepts and applies them to financial systems.

  • Collaborates with finance leadership and subject matter experts to support the Company’s data and information requirements.

  • Supports the Company’s monthly, quarterly and annual close process.

  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves, where possible, Costpoint system errors. Provides workarounds when needed, and coordinates efforts with IT as appropriate.

  • Assists in the development and delivery of timely financial reports as required, including those for the Board, senior management, operating units and corporate clients.

  • Identifies and leads finance systems improvements projects within Finance and the business units, coordinating with IT as appropriate.

  • Partners with IT teams and project management specialists to develop, test and deliver Finance Systems solutions.

  • Assists end-users in developing customized reports and ad hoc analysis.

  • Understands the importance of internal controls in the Company’s business processes, and assists in identifying and evaluating key controls in those processes.

  • Provides functional testing for upgrades, enhancements and implementation projects

  • Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing Financial systems and processes

  • Develops Costpoint functional desktop procedures and trains users as necessary on the Finance systems leveraged by PAE Finance

  • Improves, designs, and implements Costpoint system processes for new business requirements and conditions

  • Assists in acquisitions / divestitures


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Systems

  • 10 years progressive experience

  • Significant exposure to government contracting / cost accounting concepts as well as US GAAP financial reporting

  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP, CAS and FAR requirements

  • Recent experience with Deltek Costpoint software, Costpoint 7 and later experience highly desirable

  • Cognos TM1, Cognos Controller and / or Hyperion applications or similar experience

  • Experience running queries against the Costpoint database/tables

  • Understanding of projects, revenue and general ledger accounting

  • Experience with cost pools

  • Experience in system implementations and upgrades is a plus

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
