Custodian will be assigned at BDSC, Iraq and will be associated with the Site Services section. The Custodian primary duties are to ensure designated buildings are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, latrines and shower, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish and cleaning laundry rooms, washing machines and dryers. Report or notify Supervisor or Lead of needed repairs to facilities. When required – perform escort duties on and around the buildings and compound. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all includes
Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation
Gather and empty trash.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Vacuum, Steam-clean, or shampoo carpets
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Notify Supervisor or Leads concerning the need for major repairs.
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Clean and restore building interiors damaged by coffee stains, dust, fingerprint or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
Follow procedures for the safe and effective use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
The custodian may assist other maintenance sections with personnel and equipment for special projects or during emergency periods, and may escort un-badged or subcontract personnel while they perform other functions in the compound:
Escort tasks will include escorting persons, and helping visitors and customers.
Escorts will assist with ensuring site facilities are secure and in accordance with Compound security requirements and assist security operations personnel with facility security alarm inspections and key/lock control, if requested.
While on assignment, the Escort shall maintain a “line-of-sight” of all individuals that he/she is escorting.
The Escort will not leave the un-cleared individual that is being escorted until the Escort has either been relieved by another Escort or by an individual that understands all the responsibilities of being an Escort (e.g. Armed Guard, Security Officer, etc.).
If there is an emergency, such as a building fire, the Escort will direct the un-cleared individual(s) to the proper assembly area based on the Compound’s emergency action plan.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
A strong commitment to maintaining a high performing team which delivers high customer satisfaction.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
Security Vetting: Must already have or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.
Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills.
Citizenship: US Citizenship is not required.
Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.
Willingness and ability to deploy to Iraq for extended periods is required. Position may be located in a war zone in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment - temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere and extreme environment.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including but not limited to heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time; and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
Must successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by PAE and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
Must be able to work a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums.
Must possess satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health and security measures.
