Operations Planning Officer

Location: Northern, VA

Position Title: Operations Planning Officer

Position Description:

Serves as the Operations/Planning Officer, Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO). JIDO leads, plans, coordinates and executes all strategic actions supporting the integration of multiple Joint IED Defeat solutions throughout DoD, including integrating emergent operational TTPs (adaptive threats), integrating new technology, and developing expertise to enhance mobility and force protection. Conducts Operational/Planning Requirements for the J7 Training 3R Division. Directly responsible for the preparing and maintaining running Staff estimates and prepares recommendations for the Division Chief to evaluate. Develops actionable plans that support interdisciplinary approaches in support of diagnosis, analysis, assessment, and execution in order to achieve desired strategic effects. Utilizes the Military Decision making Process (MDMP) to achieve actionable plans. Must be able to synchronize efforts throughout the J7 Training Department by reviewing plans and orders for completeness, ensure necessary support requirements are provided, review the integrated staff effort process and procedure are complete. Be able to re-task and re-focus specific staff elements during execution to achieve desired end-state. Must be well versed in institutional planning and the resourcing process along with the joint interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational (JIIM) integration. Provides guidance, oversees and manages planning, development, scheduling and execution of C-IED training and support to CCMDs in accordance w/ JIDO priorities. Operational, exercise and training development background required. Familiarity with working with foreign nation militaries and previous military experience working with Combatant Command staffs required. Able to perform duties with other U.S. Military services and agencies. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Tools Suite, Tableau, Audio Visual Communication systems (Tandberg).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with deploying units for C-IED capability training

  • Conduct internal coordination for seminar presentation

  • Develop tailored training products to highlight JIDO capabilities

  • Track joint & component counter-UAS devices, doctrine & training

  • Manage & update branch-wide synch trackers and calendars

  • Research and data-mine TTP's for RFI responses

Recommended Experience and Special Training:

  • Combat Arms

  • Counter IED (C-IED)

  • Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)

  • Electronic Warfare (EW)

  • Intelligence

  • Force Protection (FP)

  • BDE level experience

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience or 14 years of relevant experience required.
