AIRCRAFT WORKER (Egress)
Egress personnel shall meet mandatory Egress training/certification requirements contained in and AFI 21-101 prior to performing maintenance on egress systems.
Repairs, maintains, and inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead. Removes and installs aircraft components. Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems.
Special certifications may be required. May be required to adjust, align, and rig aircraft systems. May be required to perform aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations. Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair. May be required to perform crash recovery duties. Required to perform assigned tasks within your work center the directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.
a. Knowledge. Knowledge of the principles applying to aircraft egress systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. Must have working knowledge of Air Force supply procedures to look up, place orders, receive and maintain parts and materials to complete assigned work.
b. Education. Must have successfully completed an Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Egress Technician Course. Completion of high school with courses in mathematics is desirable. Completion of a basic applicable aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.
c. Experience. Qualification as Aircraft Worker is mandatory. A minimum of three years of performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory. A minimum of two (2) years documented experience, within the last five (5) years, on similar military type aircraft (F-15/F-16) is required.
