BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY
Responsible for installing hardware modifications and loading software revisions in various electro/optical camera systems and calibrated support equipment.
Troubleshoots software application conflicts in coordination with multiple manufacturers.
Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing to circuit card Wulfsburg Flexcom 2 radio equipment and loading software.
Reports to the Technical Operations Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for installing software revisions and performing application and system testing of the following multi-spectral surveillance systems. WESCAM MX-20 and WESCAM MX-15 Sensor Systems, Star Safire, Star Safire II and Ultra 7500 FLIR systems. Also responsible for installing applications and system testing Flir Systems Inc. Ultra U8500 Flir Systems.
Install software revisions in Wulfsberg Flexcom 2 Radio systems which consists of a microprocessor controlled radio and control head. Install code plug loads and Coordinate with National Law Enforcement communications Center to perform over the air security key load.
Interact with customer and technicians, on a daily basis, to provide field level technical consulting to resolve problems. Provide assistance over the phone, and in person.
Read electrical and electronic schematics. Trace and analyze composite video signal flow through various stages of video circuitry ensuring optimum passage of luminance, chroma and video sync signals.
Perform removal and replacement of brittle fragile lenses. Requires diligence and attention to detail to prevent damage to very costly material.
Ensure that all sensor test equipment and special tools are calibrated prior to use.
Maintain a neat and orderly work‑area, in the shop while working on sensor systems.
Assist supply personnel in researching and obtaining suitable replacement parts and equipment required to maintain sensor systems.
May be required to have a security clearance and passport in the performance of duties.
Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
Must read, write, speak, and understand English
Certification in Electronic Computer Technology required.
Formal education and training in electrical and electronic systems is required
Must be able to use NAVAIR Technical Manuals, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair defective parts to component level.
Must be able to use Engineering Orders to incorporate circuitry modifications and upgrades
Must have the ability to deal courteously, professionally, and effectively with the customer and technicians in the field.
May require a passport, to support field operations.
May require an FAA Form 8060‑1 Repairman Certification within 90 days of assignment to this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
This classification activity is usually accomplished in a office/shop environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office/shop activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
