PAE, Inc Welder in Multiple Locations, Iraq

This is a trades position supporting our Federal programs in Iraq. The Welder welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Will be a certified master welder capable of properly welding all types of materials and all structures and conveyance systems (piping). The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.


  • This worker welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding

  • This worker may locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations

  • Maintains welds on various items using a variety of welding processes such as; arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, and brazing

  • Repairs metal surfaces (doors, drain covers, fences, motorized gates, grates, railing, furniture, tools, parts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient use of items

  • Installs various welded items for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames

  • Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items

  • Requests welding equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items

  • Works under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.

  • Must be able to operate equipment used in welding and metal fabrication

  • Must be able to plan projects; prepare and maintain accurate records; and adhere to safety practices

  • Must be able to perform Algebraic, Geometric, and Trigonometric calculations,

  • Performs inspections and prepares written inspection reports

  • Maintains effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with other employees, manager, and supports other organizations

  • Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for the welding/fabrication operation

  • Must be able to take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and schedule

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned



  • A high school diploma or equivalent

  • American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification is required


  • Citizenship: US Citizenship is required for this position

  • Security Vetting: Must possess an active DOD or DOS Secret security clearance, and maintaining eligibility for the duration of the contract

  • Must possess expert knowledge in multiple types of welding to include 2 or more of the following, torch, MIG, TIG, and stick

  • Must be able to dismantle structures using torch and plasma cutting equipment for future reassembly and or disposal

  • Experience in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering (A&E) design drawings is required

  • Knowledge of applicable US Codes and acceptable trade practices

  • Previous welding experience in an OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce is desirable

  • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the welding trade, related safety precautions and the considerable skill required for welding and the use of welding equipment

  • Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance (O&M) projects in a desert environment preferred

  • Must have good organizational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions

  • Language Skills: Professional English communication skills, both oral and written

  • Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination


  • Previous concrete work experience in an OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce

  • Relevant overseas contract experience

  • Experience working with PAE


  • Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in welding functions at an overseas facility

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer services

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective

  • Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team

  • Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information
