FDNS Clerk

The FOSS General Clerk I is responsible for providing administrative support to those personnel supporting the adjudication process of individuals who have applied for immigration and citizenship benefits.

  • Perform file operations and maintenance including file storage, maintenance, interfiling, consolidations, and audits and searches and respond to file requests.

  • Filing copies of naturalization certificates and notices and close out citizenship ceremonies.

  • Providing support for the processing of forms and applications used in the adjudication process.

  • Assists applicants by providing requested forms and directing applicant flow.

  • Answer phones on site and direct calls to the appropriate person(s).

  • Provide support to applicants utilizing electronic systems.

  • Schedule and or reschedule dates and times of interviews and naturalization ceremonies.

  • Perform tasks related to preparing for and conducting naturalization ceremonies, including the preparation and distribution of naturalization certificates and the retrieval of documentation from applicants.

  • Creates electronic records for new files and records in accordance with USCIS regulations and deadlines.

  • Provides responses to USCIS to special inquiries, file extractions, conformance audits, and data-file reconciliation efforts.

  • Enters data directly into various USCIS automated systems.

  • Modifies, updates, and corrects data contained in USCIS systems using information in supplemental documentation.

  • Performs data inquiries and searches on government agency systems.

  • Generates ad hoc reports, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant administrative experience.

  • Comprehension of basic computer programs.

  • 1 year of experience utilizing Microsoft Office, including Excel.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, follow directions closely, and take initiative.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
