On-Site Construction Safety and Health Supervisor

PAE is looking to hire an experienced Safety and Health Supervisor who can evaluate the safety protocols followed on-site, organize safety training for employees and report problems to management.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and understand the specific safety issues inherent to construction sites. The job comprises field work in Somalia.

Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Must be present on-site whenever work is performed.

  • Responsible for administrating and promoting safety and health of all project construction staff.

  • Analyze the materials to be used on site in order to design proper signage and disposal methods.

  • PPE, determine the level of protection required to be provided to staff (must match the hazards they’re exposed to).

  • Once research is complete, may map out emergency evacuation plans, including locations for fire extinguishers and first-aid kits.

  • As required also consult building codes, government regulations and other emergency response agencies in order to ensure that the workplace is compliant with health, safety and environmental regulations.

  • Provide employee safety training to all staff including subcontractor staff:

  • Provide Orientation training to safety policies and regulations prior to each employees initial work assignment

  • Provide Orientation training to supervisors to safety policies and regulations and their responsibility to execute and adhere

  • Provide weekly “toolbox talks” on appropriate safety subject for all staff

  • Special training as required, for those affected such as:

  • Confined space entry

  • Trenching

  • Excavation

  • Fall protection

  • Scaffolding etc.

  • Accompany Project and Construction Managers on periodic safety inspections and take prompt action to correct all identified deficiencies.

  • Form safety forums and conduct regular scheduled safety meetings.

  • Report all recordable injuries on the OSHA 300 log.

  • Maintain hazard analyses, first aid records, training records, inspection reports.

Requirements:

Candidate shall meet one of the following three criteria

  • Certified safety professional with two (2) to five (5) years construction experience

  • Certified safety professional as recognized by the board of certified safety professionals with two (2) years of construction experience

  • Certified health and safety technician with 3-5 years construction experience

The candidate shall have completed the OSHA 500 basic instructor course in occupational safety and health standards and have at least 5 year full-time work experience for safety responsibilities assumed in the construction industry.
