Security Specialist

Provides security expertise, guidance, consultation, facilitation, and leadership in all security related functions pertaining to: personnel security; industrial and physical security; computer investigation and awareness; security operations; and other security business. Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.

  • Security specialist will support the operations of multiple customer offices with varying security focused missions.

  • Provide customer service response, guidance and resolution to customer questions and inquiries, liaising with all levels of customer staff.

  • Evaluate reports of background investigations and applying adjudicative guidelines.

  • Provide technical database management and administrative support to manage appropriate records and security databases.

  • Provide security file maintenance, review and analysis as needed.

  • Track status and completion of individual security actions (such as polygraphs, briefings, investigations) and overall clearance process.

  • Provide industrial security guidance to contractors, managers, and contracting officers in accordance with NISPOM, FAR and DFAR.

  • Analyze physical security issues and assess customer and contractor space for compliance with DoD and IC standards for processing, handling and storing classified information.

  • Prepare/present briefings and attend meetings as representative of the customer, to include liaison with members of the IC and DoD.

  • Interpret security policy on matters pertaining to processing, dissemination and controlling classified materials.

  • Escort visitors and uncleared personnel in restricted areas.

  • Assist in the development or implementation of security policies and/or procedures, and SOPs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen holding active TS/SCI clearance at time of application and agree to undergo polygraph examination as deemed necessary.

  • Possess a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience related to personnel, physical or industrial security.

  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite is desired

  • Experience writing and executing high level reports for the customer is beneficial

  • Knowledge of DoD and IC databases, IC and DoD Directives, IC Policy Guidance, Executive Orders

  • Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited four year college or equivalent experience in a related field.
