Specific Job Description

Performs intermediate level duties associated with the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems used to conduct large rocket engine testing or article testing. Instrumentation systems include measuring and recording pressure, temperature, flow, vibration, and thrust. Controls include valve actuation and talk back, logic, gas and fire detection, area warning and communication, engine controller, PLC & PC based controls, etc. Be able to perform duties consistent with this classification as assigned and other duties that may be assigned by management. including but not limited to:

  • Must be able to apply working knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks in working on electronic equipment.

  • Develop, check out, maintain, adjust, operate, troubleshoot and modify electronic control, instrumentation, data acquisition and electro-mechanical systems.

  • Fabricate and maintain new instrumentation, data acquisition, and control consoles, as required to support test programs.

  • Must be able to follow detailed procedures and instructions in performance of duties.

  • Read and interpret documents such as electronic schematic diagrams, safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, manufacturer’s manuals and other similar documents

  • Write routine reports and correspondence

  • Perform work and maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.

  • Performs related duties as required and other duties that may be assigned by management.

Standard Job Description

Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using operational precedents which are not fully applicable. Such assignments, which are typically parts of broader assignments, are screened to eliminate unusual design problems. May also plan such assignments. Receives technical advice from supervisor or engineer or upper level technicians; work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). May be assisted by lower level technicians and have frequent contact with professionals and others within the establishment. May be led by higher level technician.

Typical Minimums

Three (3) years site experience as an Engineering Technician or 2 years site experience with a related 2-year degree. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state). Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by SSC and TOC. Ability to meet the requirements for qualification/certification as specified by TOC.
