Range Master

Serve as the Range Master for an enterprise Base Operations Support contract in the Northwest Florida Area. This individual manages the firing range and supervises weapons requalification training. Provides technical leadership and evaluates live fire weapons training and qualification in adherence to firearms training and safety requirements. Assists in the development of safe and realistic tactical movement training concepts. Serves as the Senior Safety Officer for all live range operations, enforcement of all safety procedures, conducting safety reviews and walk-downs of all new training, new equipment and new training areas. Conducts operational and safety reviews of all live fire training. Accountable for weapons and ammunition assigned to training facilities. Responsible to maintain all live fire and simulator facilities, equipment, and training armories in a safe operating condition. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.


  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts weapons requalification training

  • Ensures that all equipment, weapons, ammunition, and materials are on-hand for training

  • Other administrative tasks to support range operations, as necessary

  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a range master; this experience must have been earned as part of other federal, state, or local government training assignments

  • Qualify with the Glock-19, M4, M203, M240, M249, and Remington 870 shotgun

  • Complete the Physical Readiness Test at the 50% performance level, and maintain that fitness level for the duration of his/her service

Position Requirements:

  • Must possess a current TS/SCI clearance

  • Must possess evidence of formal certification as a firearms instructor

  • Attend and successfully complete the supervisor training course

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
