PAE, Inc Plumber in Baghdad, Iraq

This is a trades position supporting our Federal programs in Iraq. The Plumber will repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. He/She will maintain the equipment to include installing and repairing drainage systems and pipes. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes
Study building plans and working drawings to determine required work tools and equipment, and sequence of installations
Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening the structure resulting from pipe installation
Locate and mark pipes and connection positions and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob
Use hand and power tools to cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
Use pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe-threading machine to cut and thread pipes
Use pipe bending machine to bend pipe to required angles
Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made from metals or non-metals
Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints
Fill pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to ensure system is not leaking
Install and repair plumbing fixtures, sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners
Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains
May perform welding
Maintain pool equipment including sand filters, pumps and accessory equipment, chemical feed pumps, tubing and control system
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Education : A high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a Plumber Vocational Diploma or completed an Apprentice program with a Journeyman Certificate.
Citizenship : US Citizenship is required for this position
Language Skills : Professional English communication skills, both oral and written
Medical : Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination
Security Vetting : Must possess an active DOD or DOS Secret security clearance, and maintaining eligibility for the duration of the contract
3 years’ experience as a Journeyman Plumber.
Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English to a twelfth grade level and read English building diagrams.
Must be able to perform physical labor and capable of lifting 50 lbs.
Must be able to speak English and read English Technical Manuals.
Previous concrete work experience in an OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
Relevant overseas contract experience
Experience working with PAE

Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Willingness and ability to deploy to Iraq for extended periods is required. Position may be located in a war zone in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment - temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere and extreme environment.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including but not limited to heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time; and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
Must successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by PAE and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
Must be able to work a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums.
Must possess satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health and security measures.
