DLA Fuel Specialist

The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

The DLA Fuels Specialist is a Fuels Manager and Fuels Master System Administrator responsible for all DLA regulated functions of accounting, account and billing reconciliation, the Preventative Maintenance program and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of support databases for the fuels system on the AUTEC Project.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring maintenance/troubleshooting of Automatic Tank gauges (ATG) located at all sites and the Fuels Manager Unit at Site 1.

  • Supervises the FUEL Key program (government and private) and prepares and submits reports/ billing data to both Contractor and Government.

  • Places fuel orders through the DLA Enterprise System, and ensures all fuel offloads are accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Inspects, and reports any discrepancies in the bulk fuel system, and supervises any repairs to the system.

  • Performs Daily Weekly and Monthly preventative maintenance checks and any subsequent corrective maintenance on the AUTEC Fuel system.

  • This position reports to the DLA Fuel Systems Lead and is a part of the Public Works Utilities Department.

  • Respond and work an on call status when necessary.

  • Acts as a security escort as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • AA/AS in Accounting preferred.

  • 5 years hands-on experience with Department of Defense systems, including but not limited to operations and maintenance and/or inspections of liquid plant systems (valving, piping, tanks, and infrastructure) preferred. Note any applicable experience relating to other similar systems.Experience with maintenance management system such as Maximo preferred.

  • Computer literate - Windows computer applications, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

  • Must be physically able to climb stairs & ladders or elevated fuel tanks, climb in and around Fuel piping and access confined spaces for inspection purposes

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for an industrial environment.

  • Read and understand technical/repair manuals.

  • Must successfully complete the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Base Level Defense Fuels Management Course within 1 year of hire.

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.
