Retail Store Manager
The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.
Responsible for the overall management of the ARA Retail Store, including, staffing, sales and marketing, ordering, receiving, and stocking of materials and food supplies, equipment management, maintenance and replacement for all tagged/untagged property under the control of the ARA Retail Store on the AUTEC project.
Lead and train staff responsible for sales, marketing, inventory controls, spoilage, and other retail services.
Respond to and train staff on customer service related issues and questions.
Monitor training and licensing requirements to ensure that staff members comply with Federal Regulations.
Prepare and maintain employee schedules, ensure adequately staffing.
Conduct interviews, evaluations and make hiring and promotion recommendations on as needed basis.
Maintain clean, safe, and orderly conditions in retail services.
Respond to internal and external inspection requirements and ensure all deficiencies are corrected.
Prepare end of accounting period physical inventories monthly and weekly reports as required.
Proactively communicate ongoing sales, special deliverables, and never out items with the Retail Store patrons.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
AA/AS in Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Five (5+) years of related experience working in a retail environment, preferable a grocery store or convenience store
Two to three (2-3) years of which must be in a supervisory position.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Point of Sale software.
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Very detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to consistently document the work performed.
Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Professional oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
Maintain a valid Driver’s License and passport as required.
This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance; US Citizenship is required.
