FOIA Analyst

  • Provide assistance with the daily operations to the FOIA program

  • Provide FOIA/PA review and processing of pending, complex FOIA cases

  • Scan FOIA support documents related to cases assigned into the FOIA database

  • Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to, FOIA requests, coordinating proposed disclosures of information for several entities within the agency

  • Process notices and letters associated with specific FOIA cases

  • Provide initial analysis of submitter objections

  • Redact documents in accordance with agency/entity FOIA protocols which include annotating appropriate FOIA exemptions on records

  • Process draft responses to submitters of objections to release of information in records

  • Generate draft response letters to requestors detailing the FOIA review and release determination

  • Maintain complete and detailed case notes on all assigned cases

  • Support agency litigation efforts by conducting records searches as defined by the legal staff

  • Provide process recommendations to the Government staff where process changes will result in increased production and efficiencies

  • Redact PII information in accordance with FOIA requirements

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required and must be able to successfully complete a background investigation and obtain/maintain a clearance

  • Extensive knowledge of Freedom of Information Act and its amendments

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as FOIA Analyst

  • Knowledge of reporting requirements under FOIA and the OPEN Government Act.

  • Good communication skills demonstrated by written and oral experience, qualifications, and education

  • Must be punctual and reliable

  • Ability to effectively perform routine, daily tasks

  • High attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints and/or deadlines

  • Ability to review and identify complex PII or other information that needs to be redacted as required by current FOIA regulations

  • Ability to successfully complete an extensive Government background check

  • Comply with all confidentiality requirements and Government computer security requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
