Job Description:

Provides a variety of direct legal support assistance services to service AUSA staff. Typical assignments include:

  • Examines, prepares and processes a variety of technical legal documents

  • Reviews incoming material and independently determines the need for assembly and preparation of a variety of legal documents

  • Obtains needed information from files

  • With limited instructions from the AUSA, prepares such legal actions as indictments, criminal complaints, search warrants, judgments, applications, notices, affidavits, etc.,

  • Provides assistance to attorneys in trial preparation by performing duties such as independently compiling trail notebook, assembling jury instructions, and compiling witness and exhibit lists.

  • Provides a variety of direct clerical and administrative support assistance services to services AUSA staff.

  • Produces a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications.

  • Provides automated litigation assistance to attorney’s initial preparation and courtroom presentation.


  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a government security clearance.

  • Paralegal certificate and/or experience in related field.

  • At least one year of experience required; trial experience very helpful.

  • Automated litigation support experience valued. Must have basic legal knowledge.

  • Must have experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.

  • Requires good written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

  • Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
