Bus Driver/Operator (Shuttle Bus)

The Shuttle Bus Driver will be based at one of four PAE sites in Iraq and serve the Base Life Support Services (BLiSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for operating trucks or shuttle buses for pick up and/or delivery of goods or people and will report to the Transportation Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.


  • Responsible for maintaining a safeworkplace and ensuring thatsafety is thehighestpriority in the workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and QualityAssurancerequirementsand goals. Provideinformation and materials to thesedivisionsasnecessary to ensureadequate and legal documentation.

  • Operatevehicle in a safeand knowledgeablemanner.

  • Performthe Pre-trip inspection (PTI) of thevehiclepriortousetoensure it issuitable for safeoperation.

  • Perform any operatorlevelmaintenancerequired forsafeoperation.

  • Wear prescribedpersonnelprotectiveequipment(PPE).

  • Begin customerpick-up atthetimesstipulated bytheTransportation Supervisorand followprescribedroutemaking stops at thedesignated locations.

  • Assistcustomersloading and unloading baggage as necessary.

  • Drop passengers at designated stops.

  • Properlytransitthrough establishedcheckpoints.

  • PerformthePost-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is fullymission capableforfollow-onmissions.


  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Five (5) years’combinedexperiencedriving a truck and

30 passenger bus (or larger) with manual and automatic transmissions.

· Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Capable of working effectively with a multi-nationalworkforce.

  • Knowledge of principlesand processesinvolved in supporting contractresponsibilities at an overseasfacility.

  • Abilitytowork in a fast-pacedenvironment that requires handling multipletasks at a giventimeand rapidlyadapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Cross-culturalsensitivitywith an internationalperspective.

  • Excellentorganizationaland timemanagementskills.

  • Expert computerskills,specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Abilitytobecome an active and functioningmemberof a team.

  • Musthave the abilitytobeinnovativeand be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminateinformation.

  • Education: A high schooldiploma or GED.

  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid drivers’licensefromHome of Recordwithproperendorsements(forexample,Class A CDL).Mustbelicensed to operatepassengerbus.

  • Security Vetting: Alreadypossess a Moderate Risk PublicTrust(MRPT) or beableto obtain a favorableMRPTcertification priortobeing hired is required for the position.Mustmaintaineligibility at therequired certification levelfortheduration of thecontract.

  • Language Skills: SatisfactoryEnglishproficiencyto meet job requirementsand to adhereandcomply with safety,health,and securitymeasures.

  • Citizenship: US Citizenship is not required.

  • Medical: Successfullycomplete and passthemedicaland dentalexaminationsasrequired by PAE and our customer for deploymenttoIraq.Mustmaintain physicaland dentalrequirementsforduration of deployment.


  • Previous out of homecountryexperience is highlydesirable and previousworkexperience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus.

  • Experienceworking with PAE.


This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50- 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
