Supply Technician Apprentice

Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Supply Technician, the Supply Technician Apprentice performs limited aspects of technical supply management (inventory, storage, and cataloging) work to a specific trade’s group warehouse. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient issuing, receiving and accurate inventory management of ASC and NSF material.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conducts physical inventories and maintains inventory stock.

  • Receives, stores and issues materials in support of all department operations including forklift support as required. Researches stock information to determine locations and stock levels using the ERP database.

  • Establishes and enhances strong working relationships with customers.

  • Prepares outbound shipments.

  • Examines items received; notes overages, shortages, or any damages incurred in shipping.

  • Accurately documents incoming and outgoing material.

  • Responsible for general housekeeping and maintains warehouse and Outside Storage Area (OSA) in an organized and clean manner.

  • Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned by Senior Supply Technician and/or Supply Department management.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • This position typically reports to the Senior Supply Technician.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • 0-6 months of warehouse/supply chain/logistics experience including the use of forklifts, hand trucks and other powered and non-powered lifting devices.

  • Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Strong ability to clearly and efficiently communicate.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50lbs, and working at heights.

  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.

  • Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), cleaning-up around the station, recycling efforts safety events and objectives.

  • US Citizenship or Permanent US Resident status required.

  • Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity in any of these areas: Medical/Dental; Construction/Residential Repair; Automotive/Heavy & Industrial Equipment; Science/Lab Support; Food/Beverage/Retail; Office/Hotel/Janitorial Supplies; Electrical/Plumbing/Utilities/Carpentry/Fire Safety; Information Technology/Communications Supplies.

  • IBM Maximo experience.

  • Hazardous material handling experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience with remote polar logistics operations.
