Engineering Technician I

General: This position will support the Calibrations and Metrology Lab, applying electronic and scientific principles to Physical & Dimensional Measurements, Precision AC/DC measurements, RF & Microwave measurements, and repair of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE).

Specific Requirements and Duties:

  • Using various and complex types of M&TE such as: gage blocks, micrometers, pressure gauges, pressure transducers, temperature sensors and indicators, signal generators, distortion and wave analyzers, bridges, frequency counters, differential amplifiers, function generators, voltmeters, null detectors, oscillators, oscilloscopes, power meters, pulse generators, ratio meters, spectrum analyzers, sweep oscillators, RF amplifiers, the incumbent calibrates electronic equipment so that it complies with the requirements of the Department of the Navy Metrology and Calibration Program.

  • The incumbent will also be required to operate and maintain precision measurement systems and components for pressure, temperature and humidity, attenuation and insertion loss or standing wave ratio measurements.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years in performing the stated or similar functions is required.

  • Must be knowledgeable in the use and calibration of pressure standards, temperature and humidity standards, precision attenuators, directional couplers, terminations, loads, power meters, and RF watt meters by means of a complex system of swept frequency oscillators covering the frequency range of DC- 40 GHz.

  • Should be a self-starter and be able to use initiative to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be flexible and team oriented

  • Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Successful completion of military precision measurement and calibration training or an Associate’s Degree in an electronics or mechanical/technical discipline from an accredited school highly desired.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must be able to obtain and hold a Secret Clearance. Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees.
