Engineering Technician III

Duties, Experience, Skills, Requirements, and Information:

Two technicians will be hired under this announcement. These positions will support the AIR 4.5.5 Facilities for Antenna and RCS Measurements (FARM), through the Aircraft Signature and Avionics Measurements (ASAM) Branch of Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR), Patuxent River, Maryland.

  • All candidates will be required to pass Drug Screenings

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair simple electronic and mechanical technical problems to the component level, using technical skills as well as schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Identify parts needed and communicate those needs to the appropriate personnel.

  • Keep complete and accurate records of work completed and in progress at all times.

  • Follow vigilant workplace safety practices.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in performing the stated or similar functions is required.

  • Knowledge of and experience with multi-meters, hand tools, and basic machinery such as a drill press, chop saw, and screw gun required.

  • Must be able to work at heights of up to 60ft and in confined spaces, while observing established safety practices for each situation.

  • Should be a self-starter and be able to use initiative to work with minimal supervision

  • Must be flexible and team oriented

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED

  • Successful completion of technical school, trade school, or military technical training is highly desired.

Security Clearance:

  • U S Citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Security clearance, and ability to maintain clearance throughout employment. If the position requires a clearance.

Work Conditions:

Most work performed in enclosed buildings. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. This classification’s activities range from, an office-like environment with extensive sitting demands to a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May occasionally be required to lift objects whose weight exceeds 50 pounds. Special vision abilities to perform this job are close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. The diversity of work conditions may range from an office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to a flight line environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.
