Computer Systems Analyst (LINUX)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation of new Linux OS releases, upgrades, patches

  • Secure systems in accordance with local and NOAA/NWS policies

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve software or other network and system problems

  • Capacity planning

  • Performance tuning

  • Log analysis

  • Monitor, plan, and execute backup/recovery

  • Provide infrastructure-level solutions to business problems

  • Document technologies and procedures

  • Provide off hours support 7x24x365

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience with Linux OS administration is required

  • Ability to Work closely with other IT groups to resolve issues and plan future projects

  • RedHat experience is required

  • Knowledge of and experience with virtual machines

  • US Citizenship is required

Successful candidates must have:

  • Experience with 24x7 user-facing application environments

  • UNIX/Linux-based scripting skills (bash, perl, python, ...)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Solid communication skills (written and verbal)


  • BS Degree or equivalent additional experience
