Engineering Technician II
Works on BQM-74 targets and various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing equipment. Work requires practical application of technical knowledge of electronics, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to put equipment in required operating condition. The equipment consists of many different kinds of circuits or multiple repetition of the same kind of circuit, and includes, but is not limited to, the electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, and navigational aids), digital and analog computers, and industrial measuring and controlling equipment. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems (i.e., those that typically can be solved solely by properly interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents) on electronic equipment. Work involves: a familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits; and judgment in determining work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments, Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technicians, and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments.
General Functions/Skills Required/Experience:
Maintains, and tests telemetry systems and components. Use measuring, diagnostic tools to test and modify electronic parts. Ensures systems and components meet established specifications.
Assembles electronic components following predetermined methods and criteria.
Adjusts, repairs, and modifies system, using Naval and Industry publications which include maintenance procedures, diagrams, schematics and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S).
Repairs and/or replaces malfunctioning units as directed.
Sets up and operates standard electronic testing equipment.
Uses hand power tools and hand tools and simple machine power tools to fabricate electronic components.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the instrumentation/navigational field.
Performs related job duties as required.
Require at least 3 years of experience performing stated functions.
3 years technical experience is required.
Aviation Electronic/Mechanical preferred.
May deploy for up to 6 weeks to shore activities or aboard large and small boats for target operations.
Position level based on accepted experience.
Possess a valid state driver’s license. CDL with Hazardous endorsement a plus
High school diploma or equivalent
OR advanced armed services technical school curriculum course in electricity, electronics, avionics mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology.
Professional certifications/licenses a plus.
Must be a US Citizen
