Senior Paralegal

THIS SCA POSITION PAYS $26.47/HOUR WITH AN ADDITIONAL $4.27 FOR HEALTH AND WELFARE

Job Description:

  • Conduct factual and legal research and provide written analyses to address issues pertaining to the Section’s rule making, coordination, or technical assistance responsibilities.

  • Performs complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.

  • Performs moderately complex litigation support tasks, including, for example, detailed review and analysis of case materials in a broad range of subject matters, such as financial records, health care materials, and other litigation files; detailed indexing of case files; conducting database searches; records management and file retention task.

  • Create excel spreadsheets.

  • Proofreads and edits deliverable products.

  • May require travel for trial support.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a government security clearance.

  • This position places a premium on the ability to write well.

  • In applying the facts to the legal analysis, the writing must be logical, persuasive and sufficiently thorough so as to leave the reader with the firm feeling that the correct decision has been reached.

  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures and legal resources.

  • Requires excellent writing skills, extensive knowledge of Microsoft excel.

  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools in particular Lexis and Westlaw.

  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

  • JD or Paralegal certificate.
